Jason Buhrmester is an award-winning journalist, editor, writer and author.

He is the author of”Black Dogs: The Possibly True Story of Classic Rock’s Greatest Robbery” (Random House/Three Rivers) and the forthcoming novel “Five Four Three Two One,” both currently in film production.

Previously, Buhrmester served as Editorial Director/Head of Content at Playboy and as an editor at Blender, GOOD magazine, and Nylon publishing. His writing has appeared in Spin, Wired, Village Voice, Chicago Tribune, Robb Report, Malibu Magazine and other publications.

He has embedded a reporter with the Afghanistan Special Forces during a firefight with ISIS, smuggled a writer into a beauty pageant in Mexico where notorious drug lords allegedly recruit their wives, and sent a crime reporter to Puerto Rico to investigate the mysterious murder of boxing legend Hector Camacho.

In 2016, he worked with Hugh M. Hefner to redesign and relaunch Playboy for the first time in the company’s 60-year history. Adweek dubbed the relaunch “Hottest Reborn Magazine.” During Buhrmester’s tenure, Playboy won numerous awards from the New York Press Club, Folio, Longreads and others, including “Best Crime Reporting” and “Best Feature” from the Los Angeles Press Club.

He is currently the Chief Content Officer – Magazines & Books at TMB and lives in Chicago.
